I guess I should have already known, but I just had a big realization that I am no longer--cool.
For a long time, the missionaries coming to my house for haircuts have just been that-missionaries getting free hair. But today, I actually said, "You kids.." Who says that? Only really old, dorky soccer moms such as myself. Now there are plenty of good things about being an old soccer mom. For instance, I am at one with all-yes, ALL-of our bodily fluids and functions. I can, in fact, fix a well balanced meal in very little time, just from what is currently stocked in my home. Though more is desired, I can actually survive on 2 hours of sleep. So what if I wore these clothes yesterday? I didn't get dressed until 5:30pm, so technically they are still clean...that's just a little spit-up..
No, young ELDERS, I don't know of much fun to be had unless it involves a park, some lunch and shade or water. But I CAN make up any rhyme or song that teaches some fun lesson about not picking your nose, but do pick up your clothes...
So cool? No, but fun, I am! Booyah!

That is so funny Callie! I catch myself saying dorky stuff all the time! Isn't it funny how missionaries actually seem like "kids" to us now? Man, the Elders in our ward look like they just left Junior High to me:) That's funny! See ya tomorrow:)

They are kids! I babysat kids older than them. So the phrase "you kids" fits them. I do have to mention even when I was only 2 years older than them they acted like they were 10. We had a sign up that said "Elders are little boys". That was to remind us to be nice and patient with them.

LOL! You are hilarious! I was seriously laughing out loud. I have referred to people as you kids also. I AM old! I already KNOW I'm a dork and I'm not even gonna try to defend myself. :) See ya tomorrow night! I'm so excited!

Ha Ha Ha! You are hilarious! Why don't you write a humorous book? I think that you are so witty and cute. Wish I could have been there this weekend. At least we are all old moms together.

I won't even think about the fun girls night you had without me. It just makes me sad. HA! Not really, but I wish I could've been there. I love all you girls and miss you all! Maybe my next trip down that way. You are so hillarious! Forget that you feel old. What I think is, "when did missionaries get so immature?" We had the elders at my house for dinner about 2 weeks ago. One of them climbed on my kid's swing set and I just cringed as I pictured that chain snapping and then during dinner they kept trying to out do eachother with stories of cool tricks they ever did on water slides. Hmm...all this time (recently), I thought they were just getting more immature. Maybe I have it backwards and it's just me getting old and boring? Now you have me worried! ;)

Ok, I totally loved that post. You ARE cool! :) Even though I'm still working on the "healthy meal" thing and the making up songs thing... I do LOVE the park and picnics. :) WE are sooo cool!

At least your "dorky" comment was only to the elders ... Ryan looks at me all the time with a "why did you SAY THAT?" look ... you're still pretty cool though! :)
